A Guide to the Parks & Green Spaces of Baldwin Park

One of the best parts of living in Baldwin Park is how easy it is to spend time outside. Parks, walking paths, lakefront spaces, and neighborhood greens are woven throughout the community, giving residents plenty of opportunities to walk, run, play, relax, or simply enjoy the Florida sunshine.

Whether you're looking for an open field, a quiet lakefront spot, a place to bring your dog, or somewhere to take an evening walk, Baldwin Park offers a variety of outdoor spaces to explore.

Here are some of the parks and green spaces that help make outdoor living such a big part of the Baldwin Park lifestyle.

Blue Jacket Park

Located at 2501 General Rees Avenue, Blue Jacket Park is one of Baldwin Park's largest and most recognizable outdoor spaces.

The park is a popular destination for sports and community activities, with baseball, softball, and soccer fields along with plenty of open space. It also hosts everything from 5K runs and fundraising walks to picnics, birthday parties, and other community gatherings.

Its large green spaces make it a great place to spend an afternoon outside, while its location within Baldwin Park keeps it connected to the surrounding residential areas.

For residents who enjoy having room to exercise, play sports, or simply get outside, Blue Jacket Park is an important part of the neighborhood.

Mayor Glenda Hood Park

Located along Lake Baldwin at the end of New Broad Street, Mayor Glenda Hood Park is one of the neighborhood's most scenic gathering places.

Previously known as Harbor Park, the space was renamed in honor of former Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood, who played an important role in transforming the former Orlando Naval Training Center into the Baldwin Park community we know today.

Its location makes this park particularly special. Residents can walk down New Broad Street, visit nearby restaurants and businesses, and continue directly toward the waterfront.

With Lake Baldwin as its backdrop, the park brings together two of the neighborhood's biggest attractions: its walkable Village Center and its outdoor lifestyle.

Orlando Veterans' Memorial Park

Along the north shore of Lake Baldwin is Orlando Veterans' Memorial Park, a peaceful space created to honor United States military veterans.

The park covers just over four acres and includes large shade trees, open space, a paved walking path, memorials, and a small gazebo overlooking Lake Baldwin.

Its quieter atmosphere makes it a great place to slow down and enjoy the lake views. The park also connects to the larger trail system surrounding Lake Baldwin, making it an easy stop during a walk, run, or bike ride through the area.

The military memorials are especially meaningful considering Baldwin Park's history as the former site of the Orlando Naval Training Center.

Lake Baldwin Park

Just beyond the Orlando-Winter Park border sits Lake Baldwin Park, a 23-acre lakefront park that is especially popular among local dog owners.

The park includes a sandy shoreline, picnic tables, benches, pavilions, a dock, and a boat ramp for boats without gas engines. It is also known for its dog-friendly recreation area, making it a popular gathering place for residents and their four-legged companions.

With its shady setting and views across Lake Baldwin, it's another example of how much access residents in the area have to outdoor recreation.

Visitors should note that although the park has a sandy shoreline, the City of Winter Park currently prohibits people from swimming in Lake Baldwin from this park.

Lake Baldwin & the Neighborhood Trails

Not every great outdoor space in Baldwin Park has to be a traditional park.

The paths and green spaces surrounding Lake Baldwin are a major part of everyday life in the neighborhood. On any given morning or evening, you'll see people walking dogs, jogging, biking, and enjoying views of the lake.

The trail network also connects several of the area's parks, making it possible to experience multiple outdoor spaces during a single walk or bike ride.

It's one of the features that makes Baldwin Park feel especially connected. Instead of parks existing separately from the neighborhood, outdoor spaces are integrated into the community itself.

Smaller Neighborhood Green Spaces

Beyond Baldwin Park's larger parks, smaller greens and open spaces are tucked throughout its residential areas.

These spaces were intentionally incorporated into the original community plan to provide gathering areas and open space close to residents' homes. They help give different sections of Baldwin Park their own neighborhood feel while keeping greenery and outdoor space within easy reach.

You might pass one while walking the dog, taking an evening stroll, or simply heading through the neighborhood — and that's part of their appeal.

Outdoor Living Is Part of the Baldwin Park Lifestyle

Baldwin Park's parks aren't simply places to visit. They're part of everyday life in the neighborhood.

From playing sports at Blue Jacket Park and walking around Lake Baldwin to enjoying the waterfront near New Broad Street or finding a quiet spot at Veterans' Memorial Park, there are countless ways to enjoy the outdoors without traveling far from home.

For anyone considering a move to Baldwin Park, these green spaces are another reason the neighborhood continues to stand out within Orlando.
